Home Page Stories
We have started 2023 with a few of our regular activities.  We brought valentines to seniors again and are looking forward to volunteering at the Billerica Community pantry in March.
We started 2022 working with Enterprise Bank, Salem Five Bank and Printing & Graphic Services , made gift bags for some of our seniors at Brightview Senior Living and and Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley plus gifts for the 12 Step Sober House here in town for Valentine's Day.
In March we volunteered at the Billerica Community Pantry, a place we support every year.
In May we cleaned our "adopted" island with help from the Billerica DPW.
In June we were proud to present the Michael Oliveiri scholarship to 3 Billerica students, one from Shawsheen Tech, one from BMHS and one who attends school elsewhere. This is something we do every year, and this year we were able to meet the winners!
We also sponsored sophomores from Billerica to attend RYLA, the Rotary Youth Leadership conference.
We finished the month by having our annual car wash to support The Rotary Foundation and Aide to Ukraine.
In July we cleaned and organized the Rotary room at DCF, and thanked outgoing president Taryn Gillis and welcomed our new president, Corrina Lombardo at a social event at a members house on a lake.
In August the students who went to RYLA shared their very positive experiences at our meeting.  We also volunteered again at the DCF back to school event.
In October we had our first big fundraiser in years. We hosted the Flying Ivories, a Dueling Piano company. All money raised went to the Billerica Rotary Foundation which is our charitable foundation, all money raised goes into helping others, in Billerica and beyond. We also enjoyed a visit with our District governor, Victor Tom, and helped at the DCF Trunk or Treat event.
In December we partnered with the Billerica Holiday Festival and the Council on Aging to host a dinner for our senior citizens in town to be able to watch the tree lighting from inside.  The weather didn't cooperate, but we still had fun serving a yummy pasta dinner!

After spending 2020 having online meetings and very few service projects due to the pandemic, we were happy to start being out in the community in 2021.
We started the year with our collection of new coats for the Dept. of Children and Families. In 2019 we created the "Rotary Room" which is stocked with new items for children entering foster care. Thanks to a Rotary grant we were able to buy new duffle bags so that each child can have a new bag to carry their belongings. Every year we ask the community to donate new coats that then are given to the foster children.
We have a group of Rotarians from the towns that the Lowell DCF office serves, and we meet regularly to support the office, through donations and participation in their family events.
In July we thanked outgoing president Jim Heller and welcomed new president Taryn Gillis with a ceremony and a social get-together for the club. We enjoyed a visit from our District Governor Cliff Rober.
In August we collected donations that we brought to the Lowell Wish Project in support of their Backpack Attack project that gives out new backpacks filled with school supplies.
We also helped at a DCF event to give foster kids an afternoon of fun, plus a backpack and a swap between foster parents of clothing and toys and more.
In September we partnered with Shield system Car wash in N. Billerica and had our annual car wash to support the Make A Wish foundation.
In October we cleaned the island we "adopted" that is on Concord Rd. in Billerica, followed by a small social event at the Emerald Rose.
For Halloween we helped at the DCF Trunk or Treat.
In December we partnered with America's Auto Auction for a DCF Holiday Stroll.
We were glad to get as much done as we did, and look forward to 2022!
